In a post last week, I referred to board member Lynda Banwart as an "ice queen." While I do not think that gets down to the level and referring to someone as "cupcake," I can't imagine myself referring to a male board member as an "ice king."
I will try to watch for that type of unnecessary language and avoid it in the future, though it has been several days and I have yet to receive even one complaint about the reference.
Burlingame, on the other hand, is doubling down on why he was right to refer to Martucci as cupcake. In his latest post , Burlingame shows a 1950s mentality when it comes to women:
A JUDGE in a court of law called a young, struggling attorney that name it seems and it was so reported on TV. That woman rose above the term and has become a bombshell instead and not just a physical one. She is now a world class attorney.
If our local a current cupcake grows up intellectually maybe she will become a star as well. I hope she does as no one can stand 5 hour BOE meeting all the time. We’ll never get anything done!!
It is hard to believe that there are people in this town who consider Anson Burlingame to be a highly gifted writer. I try to avoid both of those people.
He is grotesque, as the urban definition of 'cupcake' is a woman's vagina, as in "I want to taste your cupcake." CJ can sure pick some great associates, can't he? Anson should be shunned, and the Globe, if there is anyone still of any decency left there, should shun him as well. Are you proud of this creature you have created, Ms. Stark? Disgusting is not a strong enough word for Anson. But then, I think he revels in it. I wonder if he would find that term offensive if it were applied to his granddaughter?
ReplyDeleteIf he's auditioning for Mad Men, someone needs to tell him its no longer in production. Maybe he could try out for Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.
ReplyDeleteIf the BOE was properly informed of what they are voting on prior to said meetings the length would not be necessary. The vote yes and go meeting is no longer to be tolerated. If asking pertinent questions to aquire the knowledge of exactly what you're signing isn't admired and expected I have some property in Texas that comes complete with a great master developer!
ReplyDeleteI commend your decency to apologize and admit your mistakes. It takes a strong person. A character trait that would have benfited both schools & city. Many travesties would have been averted if only our "leaders" could claim this noble character. Name calling doesn't benefit anyone , even when we agree.
So now we come to the crux of Turner's reporting: Whine that Anson and CJ Huff and the Glob are not social-marxist Politically Correct and never mind that they wasted taxpayers' money.
ReplyDeleteWhat finished off CJ Huff was that the bills came due, not that Huff stomped on Turner.
But you cupcakes can't understand that it isn't all about you.
So just go ahead and eat your damn own cupcake, Cupcakes.
Awww....sounds like someone's butt hurts.
DeleteThe Glob huh? Maybe next time before sharing your "thoughts" slow your flow and at least try to put together a coherent comment.
Delete2:12 is correct. That is exactly what "cupcake" refers to when applied to a women. Since Anson fancies himself an intellectual and worldly man, he understood precisely what he was implying. Anson surely knows he has stepped in it. That is why he is now trying to back pedal by blaming a judge for coining the phrase. We are not dumb. "Cupcake" is not a legal term, Anson. I have a few legal terms for you though--"sexual offender," "sexual predator," "sexual harassment." Ms. Stark, you and the Joplin Globe are only condoning Anson's degrading behavior if you continue to print his editorials. I wait to see how the Globe will respond to Anson when he sends more editorials.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I will await Anson's public apology to Jennifer Martucci, assuming he is man enough.
Please keep us informed on this Anson situation, Randy. I don't read the Globe.
ReplyDeleteI, too, believe a SINCERE apology is owed Jennifer Martucci. She is an educated, dedicated, married woman with four children, not some floozy who has just appeared upon the scene. And please, Mr. Turner...take Burlingame's ugly face off of your blog. It makes me nauseous!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteTurner 'underbellyite" @3:30pm":
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, it is doubtful that "Marie Ansonette", er, Anson Burlingame would know what an "Urban Dictionary" was if it walked right up to Anson, demanded that Anson google it, and then bit Anson on what functions as Anson's thinking apparatus.
What you social marxists wanting to fatten up at the public expense using our children as an excuse don't seem to realize is that if you show your heads outside of Turner's blog then you will be marked and branded for life and never will get to fatten at the public trough.
This is the gravimen of Turner's attacks. Turner was fired because Turner didn't want to obey school board policies and "thought" that he was above the law set as a condition for employment. As do the rest of you wannabe Turner Jacobin under-bellyites and social marxists. Turner rightfully pointed out the unsustainable expense associated with the Rohr and CJ Huff regimes. The bills came due and they are gone now and Joplin will have to figure out where to go from there with a bunch of debts to pay and the reserve of good-will evaporated.
None of you Turner underbelly scum have won anything. Turner will never ever be hired as a public school teacher or journalist. Any of you Turner scum even show your snouts then you will be blacklisted as well. Understand that well. That is how it is.
Now I am amazed that Turner was so arrogant and stupid that he let you attribute to Anson Burlingame -- an absolute reactionary useful idiot to the Chamber of Commerce types who run Joplin -- that of being a, quote -- --"sexual offender," "sexual predator," "sexual harassment."
Really? So why is Turner whining about how CJ Huff made innuendos against Turner saying the above as well? Since Turner approved your comment then Turner now has absolutely no moral or legal authority for whining about CJ Huff's tactics. If Anson Burlingame wants to claim that he had his probably mythical "inside information" that Turner was a -- what was that again? -- --" . . . sexual offender," "sexual predator," "sexual harassment." then Turner has forfeited any libel and defamation counter-suit.
For what it is worth, applying such language to Anson Burlingame is unbelievable. Applying such language to Randy Turner is entirely believable. Glass houses and all.
Perhaps it is past time for all sides to simply back down. This School Board President Koch thought it best to simply pay out and put this all behind as soon and quickly as possible.
You keep on escalating this matter, Turner, and all of you Turner underbellyite scum that has gotten above yoursselfs, then you will be crushed . . . like a soft rotten underbelly of evil once the Counter-Revolution picks up steam.
Hail Anson!!!
Troll much?
Delete"Hail Anson"? Oh dear, I have so much to say but unlike you I don't feel the need to hurl ignorant and vulgar insults. Especially when it's clear that you're not of sound mind, that would cruel. My best advice - lay off the Kool Aid and please stay away from small children and animals. Thanks!
DeleteIf Jennifer Martucci is a strong, educated strong woman, then she can speak for herself. Or not, as she sees fit. She hasn't had to use any of you as tools to stand up for herself previously.
ReplyDeleteNone of you need to use her to grind your own grist.
You all need to speak only for yourselves and in public.
Some of us will speak in public here when it is safe for us to do so. And who are YOU to tell us who we can speak for OR against?
DeleteLeave Britney alone!
DeleteTo 444PM: How hypocritical. Those who appreciate Randy Turner's forum to share their opinions you call underbellies. Doesn't that make you one also? You haven't worked for the Huff regime, or you wouldn't have such ignorant opinions.
ReplyDelete@ 5:01
ReplyDeleteIt is strange that you are attempting to tromp on my right of free speech. However, I believe I will choose to speak whether you think I should or not.
That is all.
I think everyone on this post are hypocrites even myself. We all say we know what is best for kids but hide behind an anonymous tag.... Its time to put down our pitch fork on both sides and come together. The tornado didn't kill the spirit of Joplin Missouri but it looks like the special interest might.
ReplyDeleteKumbaya.
DeleteNeither Turner nor Burlingame are going to stop fighting. However, Koch decided to simply pay Huff to leave and hopefully that will be the last of this chapter.
ReplyDeleteThere is not going to be any "coming together." Rather if there is any goodness to be found it will be in the exhaustion of the combatants and the fact that soon there won't be anything worth fighting over except debt.
It will be exhaustion and poverty which ends the fighting -- not goodwill.
Well i guess we know what CJ is doing with his free time. Right 4:44?
