C. J. Huff: I know a lot of important people

This KSN clip focuses on former Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff's new job with Bright Futures, but fails to mention Webb City R-7 Superintendent's Tony Rossetti's decision to leave the BFUSA Board because of that hiring.

In the video, C. J. Huff explains why he is still relevant- He has connections all over the place and he knows a lot about dealing with emergencies.

I hate to admit this, he continues to come out smelling like a rose, yet again. This "good ol' boy" system has to have a stopping point some time. Does it not? After all he's allegedly done regarding budgets, staff & his general attitude, can the people of Joplin, & I'm one, put this person in charge of more staff & budgets? This is only my opinion & yes I know he has NO legal charges pending regarding, regarding finances.

Bright Futures is a scam. A school can not operate a non profit organization as a slush fund. Paying for housing of students, electricity, clothes, food, and the biggest scam is the back pack program. If they know a child is not eating report the family to social services...they have a legal mandate...

Not all Bright Futures programs are paying housing, electricity, Christmas gifts, etc. so it's not fair to compare all the programs to what Joplin does. I volunteer for the Bright Futures program at my kids school and they are very cautious of how they utilize resources to provide clothing and shoes and other needs of kids at school. Our school council has gotten several requests to help with utilities and our Bright Futures would not pay them and referred them to agencies who could maybe help. They help students who would otherwise struggle, stand out, be shunned or made fun of at school. Our school does a weekend snack program but those in the program are all low income so the extra food ensures nutrition when food at home might be low at times. You would have to remove hundreds and hundreds of students from their homes if you looked at reporting kids for coming from generational poverty. If Bright Futures USA were not just trying to make a name for themselves and milking as much money as they can, it would be a great program for the schools doing it with the best intentions to help kids who would otherwise fall through the cracks.
