Woolston in KOAM interview: I didn't do anything wrong

At least Richard Nixon had the decency to go to San Clemente after he resigned.

That is not the approach being taken by Former Joplin City Councilman Mike Woolston who began his rehabilitation tour with an exclusive one-on-one interview with KOAM's Jordan Aubey.

In the first segment, which was broadcast moments ago, Woolston said he wanted to tell his story in the hearing, but was unable to do so.

"It got to be for me a decision of cost. I had hired two attorneys out of Kansas City and they had been working on it pretty steadily from the time that the hearing motion was made and I began to realize that it would probably turn out that I might have some support, but I would not have enough support to remain on council."

That was the only part of the interview that was broadcast during the 5 p.m. newscast, but more is coming up at 6 p.m. According to Aubey, Woolston denies all charges against him and says he had the okay from the city attorney at that time, Brian Head, to do the things that he did.

It is curious why Woolston thinks he needs to do this, when the City Council just agreed to a joint statement that says he did not do anything wrong.

What is the matter with people like Woolston? They can never admit they make any mistakes. It's always somebody else's fault or responsibility. Bemoaning that you had to make a living. Of course, everyone has to earn a living, but you, sir, made a choice to run for Council. You weren't forced in to that Council seat. If your real estate deals ran counter to your service for the citizens, resign and go back to the private sector. And his comment that he probably would have resigned in 6 months to a year anyway. He wanted to decide when to quit. What's that about? Time to stop your whining and go back to the private sector you foolish little man.

Wololston sand bagged the council then, having avoided the presentation of evidence against him in a hearing, took advantage of having only his version of the story in the press. Masterful manipulation.
