Cravens message to East parents: A new principal is coming

On the same day that Joplin R-8 Executive Director of Secondary Education Jason Cravens announced the reassignment of East Middle School Principal Bud Sexson to staff, the following message was sent to parents, explaining to them when their children return to school after Christmas break, former North Middle School Principal Barbara Cox will be in charge.

Cox will contact parents over the break:

Dear Parents,

This email is to inform you that when your student returns to East Middle School on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, there will be a new interim principal Mrs. Barbara Cox. Dr. Jason Weaver will continue to serve as assistant principal. Mrs. Cox is a long-time former Joplin Schools teacher and a retired principal of North Middle School. Please watch your mail over the holidays for an introduction letter from Mrs. Cox and more details about the coming semester. Mr. Sexson will continue to work for the district in another capacity.

We did not make a formal announcement to students. However, it is possible that your student is aware of this change. When you receive the letter from Mrs. Cox, please share her information with your student. She will formally introduce herself to students on the first day of school in January. She is excited to meet the students and to share her expertise with East Middle School and the district during this transition.

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,

Jason Cravens Executive Director 417-625-5200 Ext. 2005

This is a travesty. With Dr. Huff gone, we will never enjoy the benefits of an Executive Director of Executive Directors. Now we must watch our hard earned tax dollars being wasted on classroom teachers. What is next? Textbooks for high school students? It seems there is no end in sight to this madness. Dr, Huff, I know you read this filthy blog that we all desperately avoid. Please comment with the locale of your next district: so that we may pack up our families and follow you to the new promised land. We miss you CJ, We miss you...

Mr. Cravens needs to be reassigned to the high school as assistant principal and his pay back commensurate with his expertise. That won't be close to six figures.

Cravens was well rewarded for his action in steering bids to the right bidders. He chose the winners of the bids before they were closed. I'm sure that was worth a lot of $$$ to him to fleece the taxpayers of Joplin, along side CJ Huff, Wallace and Bajali....

Investigate him, and see where the trail leads....

I don't know what you are trying to insinuate comment poster at 12:18.

I'll be looking into this just as soon as I get back from my German junket and vacation. It is almost a crime that school furniture has to be imported rather than purchased made in the USA. Think about the children!

I mean will the graduates of R8 have to go to a foreign country to get a job? Or to take a vacation?

I will be glad to provide the letter to R8 staff when Cravens, Dozier, Smith, and Warren are dismissed.

    Thank you.
