On his Facebook page, Anthony Volkman, 17, Lockwood, describes himself as a "mad scientist."''
Volkman's experiments are on hold after he was jailed today on a $50,000 cash-only bond on a felony charge of making terroristic threats.
Volkman's threats, which police say included bombs and campus shootings, caused Crowder College to cancel classes today at its Neosho campus and postponed the scheduled meeting of the Crowder College Board of Trustees.
The Lockwood teen took online classes from Crowder, but he had been visiting a friend who stays in the Crowder dorms, The police arrested him without incident, but noticed a suspicious looking device in his vehicle. The bomb squad from the Springfield Police Department detonated the vehicle as a precaution, but determined that the item was not a bomb.

"detonated the vehicle"? or detonated the package?
ReplyDeleteUnless they had a bomb robot that could pluck the package out of the vehicle, they wouldn't have any choice but to detonate a big enough charge carefully placed in the vehicle close enough to the package to sympathetically detonate the package if it was explosive.
ReplyDeleteIf this guy was truly making credible threats, his car getting totaled is not entirely unfair....
