Emery announces he will file for re-election

(From Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar)

State Senator Ed Emery (R-31) announced today that he will file for re-election on Tuesday.

Emery currently serves in the Missouri State Senate representing the 31st District which is comprised of Barton, Bates, Cass, Henry and Vernon counties.

“A statesman’s responsibility is to limit government and to secure individual rights,” Emery said. “The first line of defense against unconstitutional acts of the Federal Government is your state legislature. That is why I ran for State Senate in 2012, and if re-elected this year, I will continue to protect the liberties of the citizens of Senate District 31 and of Missouri.”

Emery previously was elected to serve four terms (2003-2010) in the Missouri House by the people of the 126th District. While there he championed free market solutions, individual liberties, education reform and protecting the traditional family.

During his tenure, he chaired the House Utilities Committee and the Interim Committee on Immigration Reform where he authored the committee report recommending reforms at both the state and national levels. In the Missouri Senate, Emery is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment.
