The reports of a juvenile male that had made threats to harm students at the Joplin High
School have resurfaced.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Joplin Police Department
provided a stronger, visible presence at the school Tuesday morning while Joplin detectives
contacted any new leads that were reported.
At this stage, these reports have been linked
back to the original threat for which the juvenile was taken into custody for Terroristic
Threats on March 3rd
.
The Joplin Police Department encourages open communication and prompt reporting of
any indications of threats to students. At this time, we have not identified any immediate
or new threats to students.
Original News Release
The Joplin Police Department school resource officer at Joplin High School located
at 2104 S. Indiana Ave. was contacted by school officials at 2:30 P.M. yesterday March
3, 2016.
They had received information that a juvenile male had made threats to harm
students sometime in the coming days.
The juvenile officer was contacted and the juvenile was taken into custody for Terroristic
Threats and transported to the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center. He remains
there at this time and there is no active threat to the school or students.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
That sound you hear is JHS parents on their cell phones calling Webb City and Carl Junction inquiring how much out of district tuition is.
ReplyDeleteYou can send your kids to Galena and Riverton for FREE. Several parents pulled their kids from Joplin and put them in Riverton.
DeleteLet us know how that works out, I'm sure you'll find whatever school district isn't perfect either and find a reason to complain.
ReplyDeleteMore to the story when it comes to the families that pulled their kids and went to Galena. Some of the families only pulled some of their kids. They have kids in both districts now. And according to Missouri high school athletic association it not a free ride. Tuition is being paid
