Official JPD news release on threatened school shooting

(From the Joplin Police Department)

The Joplin Police Department school resource officer at Joplin High School located at 2104 S. Indiana Ave. was contacted by school officials at 2:30 P.M. yesterday March 3, 2016. They had received information that a juvenile male had made threats to harm students sometime in the coming days.

The juvenile officer was contacted and the juvenile was taken into custody for Terroristic Threats and transported to the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center. He remains there at this time and there is no active threat to the school or students.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

(While the news release does not mention anything about the threat of a school shooting, that information was confirmed from multiple sources by the Turner Report.)
