The most important issue facing the Joplin R-8 School District is the selection of a new superintendent, according to Joe Brown, one of two two candidates for a two-year position on the Board of Education.
"We need a superintendent who will continue with the five-year strategic plan," Brown said during an interview today on KZRG, referring to the plan that was approved by the board at its March 29 meeting.
Brown also cited the need to raise teacher salaries, retain teachers and increase salaries and benefits for staff.
