(From Sixth District Congressman Sam Graves)
On March 8, 2016, Pablo Serrano-Vitorino spread terror across Missouri, allegedly murdering four people in the Kansas City area and another outside of Columbia.
It was later found out that Serrano-Vitorino was previously deported from the U.S. for a felony conviction, only to re-enter the country illegally. What’s worse, Serrano-Vitorino was in police custody multiple times as an illegal immigrant, but was released each time. Not deported.
Illegal immigration is just that- illegal. One of the things that frustrates me most about Washington D.C. is that people seem to forget that. It's only gotten worse under the Obama administration.
There are lawmakers and police officers across the country who want to enforce our laws and deport those here illegally. But significant gaps exist between what happens at the local level and at federal immigration offices in Washington, D.C.
That’s why, this week, I cosponsored H.R. 5853, the Empowering Local Law Enforcement Act. This commonsense legislation will give law enforcement officers the authority to protect our communities from dangerous illegal aliens, forcing DHS to train local police on ways to carry out immigration policies like arresting or detaining illegal aliens.
This administration has created an environment where dangerous people like Pablo Serrano-Vitorino can enter our country and avoid deportation. H.R. 5853 stops that, helping police officers enforce immigration laws and keeping people like Serrano-Vitorino out of our communities.
There is nothing ambiguous about illegal immigration. It’s time we give local law enforcement the tools to enforce the laws this administration refuses to.

How about local legislators enforcing some of their own in abusing their privilege of sexual advances on interns. How about protecting our water purity by enforcing the Clean Water rules which in turn leads to a good neighbor policy towards surrounding states. Our wastewater and drinking water systems are falling woefully behind in protecting our children and citizens in general for access to clean pure drinking water. Pass a deposit bill on bottles, both plastic and glass, to protect our environment. Your petty ramblings about these matters pales in not protect the basic health of all citizens.
5 American citizens are dead because of our Federal government's catch and release policy. By comparison, your preferred policy changes are petty, and would not be likely to save a single human life, since our current water systems are more than good enough to pass that threshold.
Or to put it another way, are you honestly saying a bottle deposit bill is a greater concern than murderous illegal aliens?
"This must be some new definition of the word petty I wasn't previously acquainted with."
There is more danger to children in this country from old, white sex offenders than from any threat from immigrants. Last I heard the Bastard that raped and killed the little girl from Stella is still alive and well in our prison system. So much for swift justice. Get with the program Sammy and deal with some issues that actually affects our society.
That catch and release policy came about because our Congress refused to fund the deportation process. If you want them gone, somebody has to pay to transport them out of the country.
@7:39 AM: That's a job for state legislators, (as are the issues with interns at the state level, 5:06 AM). Graves is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, and is, you know, focusing on Federal level things he's actually responsible for.
@7:39 AM: If this catch and release policy came about due to a lack of funding, how has Obama nonetheless managed to deport more illegal aliens than any past President? There's money enough for those raw numbers, the issue is more complicated.
Don't be afraid of the "murderous" illegal aliens.
Tell that to their victims, and their loved ones trying to pick up the pieces after the murders.
The fact is illegal immigration is on the decline.
That depends on the county of origin, which depends a lot on how a county is doing economically compared to the US. And how much you depend on who's counting them, obviously no accurate figures are available due to their jumping the line and coming here without getting formally counted among other things.
Do you deny there's still too many illegal immigrants, including these murderous ones, who the Obama administration doesn't really care about leaving in the country?
You speak in broad generalities, we point to, you know, actually murdered American citizens.
And you want to make the problem worse:
The real "bogeyman" is the Republican not voting on the immigration bill to resolve problems
By this, you mean a bill that gives them all amnesty, so they're no longer illegal aliens killing American citizens, just legal aliens killing American citizens. Which doesn't fix the problem in the slightest, and only encourages more to come over, legally and illegally.
@2:55
Do you really believe "illegal" aliens murder at a higher percentage among their population than "legal" Americans? No, they don't. Did you google that Obama has deported more "illegals" than any President in US history? No, you didn't, even though it's true. Did you google to verify illegal immigration is on the decline? No, you didn't, because you can't handle the truth. Graves and yourself are ill-informed cowards that seek to blame all immigrants as "killers" by citing one instance. I suspect if either of you were on border duty and saw the face of a ten year old little girl that had walked across the country of Mexico from Honduras to escape murderous gangs of cowards, like yourself, you would prove your manhood by throwing her back into the Rio Grande. Jesus said anyone that turns his back to a child is unfit for heaven. And BTW, none have called for total amnesty, nor would a legalized citizen be referred to as a "legal alien".
Did you google that Obama has deported more "illegals" than any President in US history? No, you didn't, even though it's true.
I'm 8:17 AM, so not only did I know it, I Googled it to confirm my memory, and inserted a link so others could do that.
I think I can safely skip the rest of your posting, seeing as how you know so much about me and what I know, that isn't actually in the least true.
To actually close the southern border would require 48 combat divisions with the resolve to kill every living thing that ran, walked or crawled across that border. The real problem we have is that there are actually American citizens who would actually be willing to do that very thing.
@8:47
If you are 8:17 the comment doesn't concern you, it is addressed to 2:55am. If you are 2:55 as well, then you are a scared little man that needs to get a grip. This country was founded by immigrants.
Yeah and to "found" it all they had to do was kill off the Indians.
@1:27
Guess what genius, the Indians were immigrants too. Class dismissed.
To actually close the southern border would require 48 combat divisions with the resolve to kill every living thing that ran, walked or crawled across that border.
Or we could, for example, sow the border with zillions of anti-personal and vehicle mines, as we do to the border between North and South Korea. But I don't think we'll have to go that far.
I'm sure you can design a border closing scheme that hasn't a chance of working, but that's a boring exercise in knocking apart your own strawmen. Criticize the plan of someone who wants to make it work and you might be interesting to listen to.
Graves......who let you in? Maybe we should have spayed and neutered your parents.
