(From Seventh District Congressman Billy Long)
Congressman Billy Long (MO-07) issued the following statement today regarding his vote on the budget resolution that would pave the way to repeal Obamacare:
“I made a promise to my constituents that I would repeal and replace this disastrous health care law and today I took one of the first steps to follow through on that promise,” said Rep. Long.“With premiums rising, Obamacare continues to let the American people down. It’s unacceptable and the American people deserve better. I look forward to supporting legislation that is patient-centered, allows for more choices and is at a much lower cost.”
The budget resolution includes reconciliation instructions that will authorize four committees to begin drafting repeal legislation that can pass with a simple majority in both the House and Senate.
The two House committees provided with reconciliation instructions are the Energy and Commerce Committee, which Congressman Long is a member of, and the Ways and Means Committee. The Senate committees include the Finance Committee and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. All four committees must present legislation to their respective Budget Committee in the coming weeks.
Billy Long -- You are going to repeal and not replace, at least for a long time. In doing so more people are going to die because of it than all those killed by terrorists in the US. I do not believe the majority of your constituents want the ACA repealed. Dare you to take a poll and find out.
ReplyDeleteSo where is the REPLACE.? So people are just supposed to go off and die while you guys get fat? How about you guys giving up your coverage until we get ours...and then you guys use the same policy? Now THAT WOULD be serving your constituency .
ReplyDeleteRepeal. End ALL social welfare entitlements.
ReplyDeleteLet us start that process with all the Farm Subsidies.
ReplyDeleteRepeal and die.
ReplyDeleteGood thing Billy Long voters tend to be either experts at getting fooled by shiny objects, or high earners about to benefit from the yooge tax break they will get from the repeal.
Well Mr. Long, let me say thank you for all that you are doing. I am a single woman, no children left at home, I bring home 428 a week and I don't have Ins. Because Obama care is too expensive for me. I don't live beyond my means I just can't afford anything besides rent, car (used)food, Utilities. So you just do the best you can and keep on pushing.
ReplyDeleteGoober Billy Long always voted to crash the financial system but voting against raising the debt ceiling. Now watch him change that for Trump's budget plan that has a one Trillion dollar deficit per year.
ReplyDeleteGoober Billy kept ALEC's promise to undo Obamacare.
ReplyDeleteIt's a mess; the long 8 year night mare is almost over.
ReplyDeletePresident Trump with the help of fine Congressmen like our own Billy Long and our great Senator Roy Blunt will get 'er fixed

Harvey, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
ReplyDeleteIs affordable health care a right or a privilege? That's the question we need to ask Billy Long. Health Savings accounts won't help people like 5:52. When you have limited income, there are no extra dollars to save each month to put in a health savings account. Lastly, I called Billy Long's Springfield office last week to get a schedule of his town hall meetings for the next several months and was told he does not do Town Hall meetings. Why? Is the only way to address him via email, phone, twitter??? Seems to me he would want to meet in person with his constituents. I shouldn't have to pass along my concerns to him via his office personnel.
