Probable cause statement: North Middle School teacher, 37, had sex with 13-year-old boy

North Middle School reading teacher Amanda Schweitzer took a 13-year-old male student to her home and had sex with him, according to a probable cause statement filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Schweitzer, 37, was charged today with felony statutory rape in the first degree.

Bond has been set at $40,000 cash or surety and $10,000 cash. A condition of the bond is that Schweitzer is to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family, according to court records.

From the probable cause statement written by Joplin Police Department Cpl. Luke Stahl.

On 3/29/2017 at 2518 W. 29th Street,  Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri 64804, Amanda Schweitzer committed the crime of statutory rape in the first degree.

Schweitzer drove the victim, C. A. to her residence at 2518 W. 29th Street. Schweitzer led C. A. into a bedroom inside the residence and remover her and C. A.'s clothing. Schweitzer and C. A. then had sexual intercourse in the bedroom.

Schweitzer was 37 years old and C. A. was 13 years old at the time of the sexual intercourse.

The police department and state child abuse investigators have also been investigating allegations that Schweitzer sent nude photos of herself to three students, age 14, 14, and 13, though that is not included in the charges filed against her today.

The Joplin R-8 School District has placed Schweitzer on administrative leave.

UPDATE: North Middle School teacher behind bars on statutory rape charge

Waiting for people to come here and say how horrible it is that Turner is reporting these accusations as she will have her reputation ruined. Also, 13-year-old boys want sex, so he was willing.

    5. It is legal for a person to have sex with someone who is under the age of consent so long as both parties are at least 14 years old and under 21 years old. However, if the defendant is 21 years old or older and the victim is under the age of 17, then it is second degree statutory rape or statutory sodomy. Buddy, My name is Michael Stillwagon, I ask of you, the original poster to give me your name. The only reason you would say such sick things is because of your anonymity. You are sick.

Regardless of the situation... everyone involved is at fault, for the simple reasoning of knowing right from wrong... unless everyone involved has mental issues... this also includes all students who were involved parents, due to lack of parenting skills.

I have a 14 year old boy and I am 34 years old I have never ever even looked at his friends in an innooprpopiate way. And it is not the parents fault it is this women's fault. If this happened to my child the law would be the least of her worries and she would want to be in jail!!!

Ok its hard to believe that a 13 yr old lacks the maturity to grant consent for sex but an 8 yr old has the maturity to know if he/she wants to have a sex change

I notice that local media has no problem jumping on this story, but still avoided the one about the Freeman doctor engaged in similar behavior. When you have money behind you, or your organization advertises in local media, journalism comes second to financial interests.

So sick. Not all 13yr old boys want sex. A LOT of them can't make sound/good judgments like Adults are expected to. They have not developed in so many ways(Mind & Body) Some are pressured by friends to look cool etc.. These messed up, no morals adults can put all kinds of things in their heads. She could have really enticed, groomed, tricked him- who knows. Even if a 13 or 14 yr old does this willinging, they are children and are the Victims. U seem to think you know it all. It doesn't matter if the child was willing or not, she is an Adult or suppose to be anyway. If guilty, she needs prison time for rape. She shouldn't Ever be allowed to work with children again in any profession. This is so sad for the child & their families. Thank You Mr Turner for your report. If she is indeed found guilty, I hope Justice is served as this is pure evil, stupid and formost disgusting!

You need to remove the victim's initials. It's not difficult for the students or the community to narrow down which 13 year old boy attending that school has those initials.

  12. Remove the students initials, but continue reporting news pertinent to the safety of CHILDREN!!!! This child and family will face too much scrutiny, even as the victim. I pray for strength for the family and courage for this student. There will be times you feel alone and few will stand by you during your struggle. This is a long process with lasting consequences for the victim and I pray for guidance for you. When it gets tough, find the fight within and from God to continue the battle. Realize that those who face struggles with few supporters end up the strongest. Prayers for a speedy trial and swift justice!!

  15. I don't like calling her "sick." That implies that she has an illness and is thereby less culpable. I'm sorry, but unless she has a very specific, PROFOUND mental illness, she is not sick. She is just a truly bad person. (Assuming she's guilty. Let's hope this is all a huge mistake for that child's sake.)

I agree child's intals should be removed . The child n family have enough to go through . It's gonna b a long fight n recovery for that child . Why bring more down on him to deal with. That teacher knew what she was doing. They go through an extensive review when having to work with children she past Cuz she became a teacher. Prayers for child n family.

Both of those who have been on the Turner Report. I have not seen anything from other local media outlet, including the Globe.

How in the world are we supposed to teach our children right from wrong when some grown ups like this behave so badly, especially when it is a teacher????

I have so much more to type of than this but im just gonna continue to shake my head and hope and pray that everyone in this case gets what they deserve from therapy to jail time!

    TYPICAL MISSOURI AND AMERICAN B.S.JUSTICE
    GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT!!!

all you bashers and haters wouldn't be blogging that crap if that was your sister, mom, gma , etc...
And the joplin and jasper county justice individuals are as dirty as they come....PERIOD!!!!!!

Now if it is investigated properly and fairly and what truths are found to be correct I can only pray the parents of the child step up and get him the professional help that poor baby is gonna need and deserve, cause any crime of such magnitude against a baby is absolutely without a doubt punishable by more than the fullest extent of what the law can allow..

This is disgusting, and yet not surprising. Years ago, Randy Turner was falsely accused by C.J. Huff of all kinds of things, none of which were even remotely true. Yet how many R-VIII teachers have been charged with sex offenses since then? Like Charles Gastel, sentenced to 28 years for child porn. How many bad actors were there on Huff's watch who were caught by the police, but never on the R-VIII radar? Yet the one guy the district accused of doing something was totally innocent.

Its pretty obvious this women was very mentally ill. Watch the video on her facebook where she tries to sell face cream. Look at the picture where here eyes look bigger and glazed. More than likely she had a undiagnosed depression or personality disorder, and ill guess a prescription pill problem. People who have those crave attention to make themselves feel good about themselves like a self distructive women or man in there late teens or early 20's. She lost sight of reality and boundries. Doesnt change what happened though. Her poor family.

I agree...My heart goes out to the student/victim and all those impacted by this. I would have never fathomed something like this occurring. I knew the teacher and actually dated her prior to her marriage 6-7 years back. I lived out of state and there were some odd things (behaviors) that occured when I visited. I ultimately ended things and recommended she seek counseling. She also physically does not look like the person I knew then.

Common sense tells us this is wrong, It is very interesting as to why this happens, this is not the first time a female teacher has had sex with a student. As a dad, I have to be totally honest here, If my 13 year old son came home and told me he was Nailing his Hot 37 year old reading teacher (even though I know it is wrong) A part of me would be proud of him. However on the same note If my 13 year old daughter came home and said she had sex with a teacher, I would Dig a hole to put the teachers body in. I know it is a double standard, but telling it any other way would be a lie. Just my 2 cents

He is a child of 13, he is not old enough to give consent? Tell that to those that are 12 years of age, who have been convicted in a court of law as adults! When I was 13, I knew what I was doing! She didn't hold a gun to his head, and say we're doing it! Give me a break!!!!!!!
