Three new members were elected to three-year terms on the Joplin R-8 Board of Education today.
Debroah Gould tallied the most votes with 1,112, followed by Brent Jordan with 794 and Derek Gander with 760.
Ron Brewer finished fourth with 647 votes and Elizabeth Talkington fifth with 442.
Jasper County results were led by Gould with 758 votes, followed by Jordan 554, Gander 523, Brewer 447 and Talkington 318.
Gould, Jordan, and Gander replace Debbie Fort, Lynda Banwart, and Chris Sloan, who chose not to seek re-election.
Nicely done, Deborah! Although we are part of a local homeschool network, congratulations.
ReplyDeleteTrust Jordan will act mature and not have actions that disrespect R8
ReplyDeleteTo 6:06- that is an asinine comment. He is very articulate and professional and will be outstanding. You on the other hand just gave away who you are and what your motives are as no one else would make that type of comment. Good luck in your misery.
ReplyDeleteDid you see his rant at a school board meeting?
ReplyDeleteI think a better question would be - why is one church controlling the school board?
ReplyDeleteCurrently the church has 43% of the voting block -
Didn't the district just get in trouble for violating church and state?
Seriously, how could anyone's actions make joplin r-8 look any more low-rent than it already does. Jordan's a step up from what they have now for sure.
