A Joplin man who was charged with two felony counts of assault June 30 for allegedly beating his girlfriend posted a $50,000 surety bond July 3 and two days later assaulted the victim again, according to Jasper County Circuit Court documents.
The Joplin Police Department probable cause statement for the earlier offense said Bruce Anthony Chambers, 36, "knowingly caused serious physical injury to (the victim) by using his fists to repeatedly strike (her) in the face resulting in multiple hematomas and the loss of and/or permanent damage to the upper two front teeth."
The second domestic assault count came when Chambers dragged the woman across the floor by her hair.
He was also charged with a third felony, child abuse, since the woman's five-year-old son was at home when the beating occurred, according to court records.
After Chambers posted bond, it did not take him long to contact his victim, according to the probable cause statement from the July 3 arrest.
Joplin Police received word that the woman was "in immediate danger." When they arrived, Chambers refused to let the woman answer the door and took her phone away from her, throwing it across the room, according to the probable cause statement.
Chambers was charged with three misdemeanor offenses- kidnapping, domestic assault in the fourth degree, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
At the time of his first arrest, Chambers was awaiting trial in Jasper County Circuit Court on two felony drug trafficking charges, stemming from a May 27, 2016, traffic stop by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office near the intersection of North St. Louis Avenue and Whitney Lane.
According to the probable cause statement, Chambers was found with 355 grams of marijuana, 716 Xanax pills, seven vials of Trenbolone Acetate (steroids), and 99 small vials of Sustaviron (steroids.)
Chambers had a hearing today in Judge Joseph Hensley's courtroom on yet another charge, misdemeanor identity theft, after allegedly stealing someone else's personal information to apply for and receive a credit card. It was classified as a misdemeanor because Chambers spent less than $500, according to court documents.
Online Jasper County Circuit Court records indicate Chambers was not at today's hearing, but was represented by his lawyer, Brian Glades.
Information included in court documents for Chambers' most recent arrests indicates he was convicted of the offense of unlawful creation, delivery, or possession of prescription forms in the District Court of Ottawa County, Oklahoma on October 15, 2003.
Chambers' bond has been set at $40,000 cash only.
Lock him up and throw away the key. No use for subhumans in our society.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
DeleteMemo to the justice system:
ReplyDeleteDon't take any campaign contributions from the accused family and employers.
Also- christian so-called drug rehab probably isn't exactly what this guy needs...
I agree a d I'm a Christian. He is extremely violent and needs to be permanently locked away
DeleteI agree 1000%!
ReplyDeleteChambers needs to be locked away from society! He is a menace & he is eventually going to kill this young lady or some other innocent human being. A lot of Judges are not capable to set the bench on these type of cases & if not these type cases I would say it's safe to say any & all cases! SMH
ReplyDeleteThe comments here crack me up. If this poor woman were to be pregnant by this animal, you would make her have his child and still give him parental rights.

DeleteBruce Chambers was released from Jasper County jail yesterday (9/7) after the CASH ONLY bond of $25,000 was reduced to nothing and the CASH ONLY bond of $40,000 was reduced to $2500 surety ($250 bonded this man out - by his girlfriend no less). We can thank Judge Joseph Hensley for putting this man back out on the streets
