(From Gov. Eric Greitens)
Today at 9:45 AM, Governor Eric Greitens will sign Senate Bill 503. SB 503 modifies the designations and duties of state and regional EMS medical directors, giving them greater access to programs and resources as well as allowing regional medical directors to provide medical direction by telecommunication. SB 503 modifies the Advisory Committee for 911 Service Oversight to allow for more equal representation and appoints a coordinator responsible for overseeing state 911 operations. This act also provides that no emergency medical technician shall be liable, if acting in good faith and without gross negligence, for the administration of a patient’s personal medication when deemed necessary.
Finally, SB 503 authorizes the State Auditor to conduct performance and fiscal audits of any board, dispatch center, joint emergency communications entity or trust fund involving emergency 911 service to make sure resources are flowing to EMTs and First Responders. Senate Bill 503 was sponsored by Sen. Brian Munzlinger and carried in the House by Rep. Jeanie Lauer
