Graves: We are repealing regulations that have stifled business growth

(From Sixth District Congressman Sam Graves)

As we celebrate Labor Day this weekend, we remember the sacrifices and hard work that have made America the greatest and most prosperous nation on earth.

For those of us in office, it is also a reminder of the responsibility to protect the free markets that have made that prosperity possible.

Government does not exist to create jobs, but rather to protect our country from its enemies and foster a climate where free markets can thrive. Ultimately, our goal is for everyone to have a shot at the American dream. Opportunity – above all else – must be protected.

In Congress, working hand-in-hand with the White House, we are focused on repealing regulations that have stifled growth and prevented businesses from hiring. Those failed policies do not seek to protect opportunities, but rather to dictate outcomes. That is not how this country was founded, and I do not believe it is how it should be run today.

At the end of the day, I believe American manufacturers, farmers, and business owners can compete with anyone in the world, as long as we are on a level playing field. As you enjoy your Labor Day weekend, please be safe, and take a second to remember all that has been done to make America the best nation this world has ever known.

What a joke to declare that eliminating government regulations need to be scaled back on Labor Day. I suggest that anyone reading this do a quick google search on why we celebrate Labor Day. Google the Pullman strike and how many people were killed by state and government security personal in the 1890s. President Cleveland declared Labor Day six days later to appease workers after many were killed.
Today only 10% of employees are represented by unions. Many in SW MO still cannot see the relation of lower wages in conjunction with lower union membership. But ask yourself, are you being paid today? Do you have insurance through your company? (your pay has been stagnant since) If no, chances are you are not in a union. (I am being paid, thank you union) How much does your boss/CEO make compared to what he made 50 years ago? Also ask, why such an effort to address only 10% of the people?
Also, why doesn't the congressman Graves name specific regulations that he claims will help you as an American employee? Lets all call his office and ask him.

Lets see, so far the Trump admin has eliminated overtime rules that Obama had in place, eliminated financial investors from having to take the investors best interest first, cut NLRB funding, cut many safety regulations for workers, eliminated reporting of worker injuries, will not raise minimum wages, eliminated rules that made it easier to form unions, etc. Thanks Mr. Graves, you guys are wonderful!

Let us face it, the uninformed electorate(most of them)voted for these clowns and they serve a different master, big business and the Koch Bros. who are out for more billions. These guys along with ALEC have hijacked the state legislatures across our country to benefit them and damn the worker and their families. We are close as we have ever seen of business for the country, by the country and no chance of ever getting it back until people realize that they are the cattle of the upper 1-2 percent. Maybe they deserve it for not reading well enough to understand plain English when it is shown on TV as we cannot rely on the newspapers which is owned by them. Get off of Fox News and listen to CNN or MSNBC.

Doesn't anyone see the humor and sadness in what Graves and Emery tell everyone on these little blogs about how great they are taking care of us? I have to laugh at what they must think of most of the Americans/Missourians in these little quips put out by their staff. Imagine having to continually lie for these guys because they are too weak or stupid to find a meaningful job. Wonder what it feels like to be the lambs in the pen waiting to be slaughtered by these "saviors of American dreams and ideals" when it is really watching and HELPING them destroy the very existence of what could have been?
