Billy Long: Republican tax bill will lead to better jobs, more take-home pay and stronger economy

(From Seventh District Congressman Billy Long)

Congressman Billy Long (MO-07) released the following statement after the release of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:

“It has been over 30 years since we have had comprehensive tax reform,” said Rep. Long. “You shouldn’t need a PhD from MIT to do your taxes. Today, House Republicans made good on their promise and released a strong, pro-growth bill that makes the tax code simpler and fairer for all Americans. This bill will lead to better jobs, more take-home pay and a stronger economy. Missouri is home to over 500,000 small businesses that employ over 1.1 million workers. It’s time to give both the businesses and their employees a long overdue break.”

A replay of the Bush Tax cuts. Benefit the wealthy, increase deficits, throw a crumb to some of the little people.
If you really want to drive the economy, lets give the 15% cuts across the board to working people. It will trickle up this time. Working people will have to spend the money into our economy. The wealthy have proven in the past that they mostly do not put the money into our economy. And I have yet to see proof that any business man promising higher pay to employees. In fact, this administration is fighting higher wages and health care.
Good luck to the working stiff that cheers this on. DOW 7000 here we come!

  2. In a time of RECORD corporate profits the republicans want to cut Medicare, Medicaid, environmental aid, child care tax credits, adoption tax credits, deductions for mortgage interest, deductions for state and local taxes, the list is endless. They want to cut all social safety nets to give a trillion dollars in tax reductions to corporations that are already making more money than EVER. Anyone who thinks this tax reform is for the middle class is very bad at math. The only people who will benefit from this are people who don't need it. Please people, open your eyes, read about what it really does and call your congressional representatives. We need tax reform, but not a funnel of money to the 1%. Trickle down economics doesn't work. Ask the voters of Kansas.

  4. The United States has the highest corporate taxexs in the world; therefore corporations park their money offshore, and in fact build their products overseas. This game lan will bring it home and create jobs for all; especially middle class

Thanks Congressman Long for hurrying this great plan( cut, cut) to the President before Christmas.

Another trickle down republican. You saw how well that worked before. The lying excuse that it will create more jobs is more of the same "alternative facts" spewed by the fools that are easily duped. By the way harv, you misspelled lame plan. That's OK. we know what you are going to say before you do. All we have to do is listen to the alternative facts liars and you are right there.

    From Fortune magazine:

On Nov. 2, Republicans in Congress finally released the details for their tax plan. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is a massive overhaul of the tax code and spending priorities—and nothing short of a boon to the very wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

I’m old enough to remember way back to Nov. 1, when CBS released a poll showing most Americans wanted to see the wealthiest households and biggest corporations pay more, not less, in taxes. This is in sync with poll data from Gallup, collected year after year since 1992, that shows a solid majority of Americans believe the wealthy pay too little in taxes.

Given such overwhelming support for raising, not cutting, taxes on the wealthy, it makes sense that President Donald Trump and his allies in Congress would present their tax plan as benefiting the middle class rather than the rich. It’s about “people who are low- and middle-income,” says House Speaker Paul Ryan, “not about people who are really high-income earners getting a break.” Trump has even claimed “the rich will not be gaining at all with this plan.”

    Unfortunately, those are bald-faced lies.

All the details in the rest of the story.

So who are you going to believe?

    Fortune magazine?

Or some proud Trumpster who posts what he claims is his real name and phone number?
