Joplin City Council to review employees' salary, benefits during Monday work session

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin City Council will hold a work session on Monday, August 13, 2018. The meeting will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers, fifth floor of City Hall. The public is welcome to attend, however work session formats do not generally have a public comment period.

The agenda is listed as:

1. Review of Regional Salary Comparison and Wage and Benefits History Information

2. Review of Public Safety Tax

3. Any other business

The Regional Salary Comparison consists of data on police and firefighter positions in a 50-mile radius. This report was originally presented to Council earlier this year and will be reviewed again Monday night. The Council will also receive a history of wage and benefits information for certain City employees in the same position since 2000. This report illustrates the actual wage and benefit increases over the past 18 years.

The second item will be a discussion of the Public Safety Tax, including projects and other expenditures that are covered by this ½-cent sales tax.

All of the documents can be found on the City’s website at http://www.joplinmo.org/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/1663?html=true .
