Joplin High School graduate wins 2nd District Democratic Congressional primary, to face Wagner in November

Joplin High School graduate Cort VanOstran won a five-way race for the Democratic nomination for 2nd District Congress Tuesday, receiving 41 percent of the votes, and will face three-term incumbent Ann Wagner in November.

VanOstran sent the following message to supporters:

We won this race because we did something that our current Congresswoman refuses to do: we showed up. We showed up at the doors, we showed up at the polling places, and most importantly, we showed up at the ballot box.

But as hard as we’ve worked already, the real work is just getting started. It will take all hands on deck to defeat Ann Wagner in November. The work starts now.
