Jasper, Newton, Barton, Dade counties designated as disaster areas due to drought

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue designated 12 Missouri counties as primary natural disaster areas.

Producers in Audrain, Barry, Barton, Boone, Callaway, Cooper, Dade, Jasper, Lawrence, Moniteau, Monroe and Newton counties who suffered losses due to recent drought may be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loans.

    It would be interesting to see the gross/net sales of the farms claiming these low interest loans and if they had crop/drought insurance. Just saying the small farmer does not have the where with all to file these claims or get recognize for their work. Most of the claims I would assume are mega farms and I know of a couple that are cutting their sorghum for cattle feed and then claiming crop loss. Do they, USDA, figure that in as some gain before allowing a claim or is there any oversight at all on these "crop losses". Seems some of these claims should be balanced with subsidies they already receive before adjusting the claims. Be fair about the whole process as it seems rather to be a dark hole for votes.
