New judge assigned to Jalen Vaden murder case, Mouton recuses himself

A new judge was assigned to the Jalen Vaden murder case this morning.

With six and half months to go before the scheduled April 15, 2019, trial for Vaden, 23, Carl Junction, goes to trial for second degree murder and felony child abuse in connection with the December 1, 2017 death of three-year-old Jayda Kyle, Division III Judge David Mouton issued an order recusing himself from the case.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Gayle Crane.



Jayda Kyle died December 1 at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, three days after she was hospitalized after abuse that took place at her home at 405 Meadow Lake in Carl Junction.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
