DISH subscribers may lose KOAM this afternoon

DISH network customers tuning in to KOAM for the evening news tonight may have to try another channel.

The satellite network's contract with KOAM expires at 6 p.m.

KOAM offers an FAQ page on its website to explain just what may happen and why.

We are simply asking for a fair fee, just as we have with the agreements we have with all other cable and satellite systems. This fee helps us offset significant costs charged to us by CBS for its programs and the most important operation expense of all, the responsibility of covering the news, weather, sports, emergency and community service information in the Four State Area.

What is your fair fee? How much do you gain from advertising because DISH lets you reach out to a much larger audience? What is the true net costs to your station while trying to hold hostage to all the viewers of CH. 7? What are you administrative and employee salaries and then what is the revenue derived from advertisers and then what do you want from DISH? Open the books and then viewers might or might have sympathy for your plight. Without more info it is hard to tell who is the real culprit in this mess. I would imagine you gain twice the viewer base with DISH and can your advertisers stomach losing those viewers and purchasing power? Being a station leaning quite right means you might be the real villain in this whole mess.

  6. Love watching KOAM News it the only local news I watch. But there is one positive thing about this. At least I won't have to see any sports highlights of Webb City Cardinals!

Hacketts should be showing the game. They have the NFL ticket. Can't beat their dry rub wings.

    I won't watch football anymore
Football is going the way of cloth diapers.
    Thanks to the anti-american ingrates.
I have too many family members to fight for our freedom, it's disgraceful that they can't stand for the flag-to honor those who fight for their freedom.
    Find another way to protest.

    1. Well thank goodness you have the freedom to choose not to watch football. Just like they have the freedom to take a knee during the National Anthem.

10:08, Webb lost because that kid that transferred came in and fumbled twice and lost the game for us or we would have won another championship. We need to stop bringing in kids from other schools or at least do better on who we allow to come in.

    1. Oh you're talking about Sugar Kane Parks! Webb City should have recruited Westmoreland not him!

It should be illegal to bring in kids from other schools.
It's all because of the adults, you are disrupting the kids childhood. Parents are pushing kids to be what the parent wants instead of what the kids want. The kids only keep doing it because they want their parents love and atention, they are afraid to make tgeur parents unhappy. It results in unhappy children who lack self confidence and have depression. Parents are the absolute worst when it comes to sports.

We? So what grade are you in that you are able to play on the team? Or do you use "we" as in the town of Webb City? Because if you mean the town of Webb City, I hope and pray there are people in that huge metropolitan area that have better things to worry about than high school football. I am probably wrong though because if you talk to anyone from there they all seem pretty obsessed with it. Sad to teach kids to peak in high school...

Kareem Hunt got released so it may not be worth paying a bunch of money to go watch a game at a sports bar. It's always good to listen on the radio.

I like watch games at old Chicago. There are alot of games on. I always get at least 1 free beer there because the waitress seems to forget bringing one or two.

  14. Why go after Westmoreland when you can recruit 1 kid and get 2. By recruiting Jacob "Alex" Gaskill not only did we at Webb City get him, we also got Kane Parks. 2 for the Price of one!
