New armed robbery, felony assault charges filed against Ace Mohr, Carthage man being held without bond

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed felony charges of armed robbery and assault against Ace Mohr, 25, Carthage, today.

Mohr is being held in the Jasper County Jail without bond.

The new charges stem from an October 27 incident investigated by the Carthage Police Department in which Mohr allegedly beat a Carthage man with brass knuckles and stole his wallet, phone and watch.

Mohr was arrested Thursday after he failed to show for hearings earlier this month before Judge Gayle Crane on a separate felony assault charge and in Judge David Mouton's court for a probation violation hearing.

The latest charges against Mohr were spelled out in the probable cause statement:

On 10/27/2018 (the victim) was contacted at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital where he reported an assault and robbery to the Carthage Police Department.

On 10/27/2018 (the victim) was attacked and hit repeatedly on the face and head with brass knuckles by Ace Nolan Mohr at 1200 Regan St. Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri.

During the assault Ace stole (the man's) wallet (unknown items inside it), black in color Android smartphone (unknown make or model) and black Timex watch. Per Mercy Hospital records (the victim's) injuries were a swollen and tender left eye which (the victim) was unable to open; facial fractures of the orbital bones; facial fractures of the zygomatic process and facial fractures of the maxillary sinus all on the left side of his face.

This makes at least the fourth time Mohr has been charged with armed robbery. On two previous occasions, former Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney Dean Dankelson, now a judge, dropped the charges. In the third case, an alleged 2016 armed robbery in Joplin, Dankelson elected not to follow the Joplin Police Department's recommendation and did not file charges.

Mohr is awaiting trial on a felony domestic assault charge following another Carthage Police Department arrest August 18.
The probable cause statement says Mohr "pushed (the victim's) face into a wall causing (the victim's) upper lip to break and bleeding to occur.

"Ace then locked (the victim) in the bathroom, taunting (the victim) to kill (redacted). He then shoved (the victim's) face into broken glass on the floor causing a laceration on the forehead and serious bleeding to occur."

The victim was able to break away from Mohr, according to the statement and 911 was contacted.

At the time of all of these felony arrests, Mohr has been on probation. Judge Mouton sentenced Mohr to five years in prison March 5, then suspended the sentence and placed him on probation for five years after Mohr pleaded guilty to felony charges of receiving stolen property and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

As part of his plea agreement, multiple felony charges, including possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, were dropped.

Initially, a $30,000 cash bond was set for Mohr following the domestic assault case, but Judge Joseph Hensley allowed him to be released on his own recognizance. The current armed robbery and assault cases are in Hensley's court. This time, he did not allow bond.

In a one-sentence comment on the November 5 Turner Report, Mohr claimed he has been misunderstood.

The only reason there was a failure to appear was a full blown mess up on the courts the October 29th court date changed to the fifteenth I have documentation to prove that and when I was in court the 15th Mouton didn't show up for court and they changed the next date to November 29th so please me randy Turner I would appreciate it if you would stop trying to run my name in the ground because honestly what good is it doing you.? Do you get satisfaction by slandering g a 25yr old with a family that is trying to do right I'm not a worthless junkie running the streets and getting high I've came a long way from that and will never go back so why don't you take it into consideration to stop with all your obsessions you have with me it's quite pathetic if you ask me

Can anyone actually reasonably explain how this repeatedly violent, drug dealing, thieving poor excuse for a family still breathing free air and locked behind max security walls? Which judge did he sell drugs to? Or was it one of their kids? Or maybe... he sold drugs to somebodies wife or has videotape of them in a compromising position. Somebody get caught with kiddie porn? I mean seriously? How is he just in county and not in prison and could still go free?

Come on Randy, that is clearly a two sentence reply. The only problem is that he used up all of his punctuation on the first sentence. Could you loan him a comma?

8:00 pm, you’re not doing yourself any favors by writing this nonsensical reply. If Ace would stop getting himself arrested then pretty sure Randy would stop reporting on him. He’s just reporting the news and the local people have a right to know about these repeated arrests.

Skidmore, Missouri once had one of these "bad actors" who kept committing crimes and always managed to receive probation or have the charges against him dismissed. After a decade of putting up with it, the townspeople simply killed him in broad daylight on a city street. To the best of my knowledge, this murder has never been solved.

Not many people around here know about "the town bully" of Skidmore. The difference here is that there everyone was too scared to do anything, here the criminals are protected by our judges who never punish the repeat offenders. And we don't have the option to elect better judges because no one ever runs against the ones we have.

Thank you Randy for reporting the truth! We seriously have zero other sources for true news around here. Things are so corrupt here and it seems that no one can see it, everyone thinks that this won't touch them but someday it will. Someday they will be the victim of one of our many protected criminals.
Too bad "The Equalizer" and "Walking Tall" are just fairy tales.

It is laughable that anyone would even attempt to defend the actions of this person. He needs to accept responsibility. Those who make excuses for him may believe they are helping, but they are only encouraging him to continue his bad behavior.
If you really wanr to help him, STOP ENABLING HIM. When he realizes that people won't support his nonsense he will either try to straighten up or he will show you the true person he is.
If you really care, help him by holding him accountable for his actions.

It was his wife he beat. In front of their baby.
Maybe he does have something on the judges or attorneys
Maybe that is why he “does what he wants to!”
He is going to end up killing someone, and he will just get another slap on the hand.
Appearently trying to kill his wife in front of their daughter didn’t work!!
She had already taken him back into her arms before he was out of jail! Stupid people
