Northpark Mall Sears store, company may get reprieve, last minute offer due Wednesday

Sears, which has an anchor store in Joplin's Northpark Mall,  was expected to ask a federal bankruptcy judge for permission to liquidate to today, but instead is considering a revised buyout offer from its board chairman.

Media outlets are reporting that Edward Lampert made changes to his original proposal to keep 425 Sears stores. The original bid was reported to have been $4.4 billion.



If the deal is go to through, Lampert has to pay a $120 million deposit Wednesday.

Currently, Sears has 690 stores. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October.
