Cleaver: For the one millionth time- Illegal immigration is not a security crisis

Fifth District Congressman Emanuel Cleaver presented running commentary on Twitter Tuesday night on President Trump's State of the Union address.

The tweets included the following:

For the 1,000,000th time: Illegal immigration is NOT a security crisis. Illegal border crossings are down 80% since 2001.

The president claims the #GOPTaxScam supercharged our economy. In reality, it added $1.5 trillion to our debt, the vast majority of that money went to corporate stock buybacks, and 84% of business respondents have not changed plans to invest in their workforce.

It’s great that unemployment is at 4%! For reference, the unemployment rate peaked at 10% during the Great Recession and was cut in half to 4.7% by the time President Obama left office.

President Trump claims to have revived the American economy. Fun fact: The first 2 years of the Trump presidency actually created fewer jobs than the last 2 years of the Obama Presidency.
