Carthage High School students mourn loss of sophomore in crash on Harmony Road

Carthage High School Principal Matt Huntley released the following statement Saturday concerning the death in a traffic accident Friday night on Harmony Road, two miles east of Carthage:

Carthage High School and Carthage Tech Center are saddened by the news that Friday evening CHS sophomore Archer Lambeth was involved in a fatal car accident.

CHS and CTC are currently working to implement the district's crisis management plan.

Counselors will be available Monday and in the days to come for students, faculty and staff for as long as they are needed.

We are working to ensure that our CHS and CTC students are supported in this difficult time.

As our schools move through the coming days of grief, do not forget the Lambeth family. We ask that you please lift them up in prayer during this very tragic and painful season.

According to the Highway Patrol report, the 2003 Ford F-150 Lambeth was driving traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, began skidding, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

Lambeth was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, a 15-year-old Carthage boy, was taken to Mercy Hospital, Joplin, to be treated for serious injuries.

Unfortunately I was one of the ones who had to call 911 about the incident. My mom and I were on our way home when we seen the vehicle on fire on Harmony road. We called 911 and sat in between 2 roadblocks unfortunately seeing the events unfold. My little brother knew him. And I wish I could have because my brother speaks highly if him.
