The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health. In consultation with the Jasper and Newton County Health Department, Jasper R-V has made the decision to extend the Wellness break through April 24, 2020.
Jasper R-V understands that this is an uncertain time for our students, families, and communities, but we remain focused on protecting the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families.
The extended closure impacts all extra and co-curricular activities, events, practices, and before or after school programs. All buildings remain closed to the public and nonessential personnel.
Jasper R-V School District will continue to provide meal options for children 18 and younger. The Grab and Go meals will be delivered on bus routes Tuesday through Friday of each week; drivers will leave school at 10 am. Remember, that drivers will not deliver door to door; someone from the household must come to the bus to get the meals. Pick up location in town is at the Police Station from 10 am through 11 am.
We are also committed to providing learning resources as options that parents and students can consider during this unplanned break from regular learning.
Your child’s teachers may be reaching out with supplemental activities that may help keep students involved in the learning process.
We also understand that a major change in routine can be stressful for students and their families. We are committed to supporting you as we work through this challenging time together. Creating a schedule for learning time, relaxation, and family activities helps establish a “new routine” that is helpful when dealing with anxiety and stress.
We will continue to update our Facebook page and the school website with ongoing developments. We encourage you to reach out if you are in need of community or school resources. We will do our best to put you in touch with those who may be able to provide help.
I encourage you to practice social distancing and to take appropriate measures to maintain your family’s health. We are all in this together and as a country made up of strong and resilient people who KNOW how to work together to overcome adversity, I know we will survive. I look forward to seeing you all as soon as we return to our new normal.
