Races develop for two local House seats

Following the first week of filing for state offices, two races have developed for the six Joplin-area House seats.

A primary is assured in the 159th District where incumbent Republican Dirk Deaton is opposed by Mark Bartley.

In the 163rd District, Aaron Hailey, a Democrat, has filed for the seat currently held by Republican Cody Smith, who also filed.







Incumbent running without opposition so far are the following:

162nd District- Bob Bromley- R-Carl Junction
161st District- Lane Roberts, R-Joplin
160th District- Ben Baker, R-Neosho
127th District- Ann Kelley, R-Lamar
