State treasurer: CARES Act expenditure data available on information portal

(From State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick)

Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick today announced CARES Act expenditure data available through the Show-Me Checkbook is also accessible on the CARES Act Funding information portal.

The interactive “COVID-19 Related Expenditures” section of the portal utilizes technology employed by the Show-Me Checkbook to aggregate and single out spending data related to COVID-19 for state agencies in one location. The data is searchable by fund, agency, object code, vendor, and date, and can be viewed separate and apart from any non-COVID-19 spending by state government.

Data is pulled from the State’s accounting system. The State has over 400 active funds which collect, hold, and disburse its money.

The information aggregated on the COVID website is derived from a subset of those funds which were created to receive federal relief funds related to the National and State COVID-19 emergency declarations and response.

On April 10, 2020, Governor Parson formed an informal working group, led by Treasurer Fitzpatrick, to make recommendations for the use of federal funding provided for COVID-19-related costs under the CARES Act. This advisory body is studying and analyzing the federal relief available to Missouri, its citizens, and businesses as well as identifying best practices and procedures to apply that relief.

The working group’s next meeting will be held next week. Information about the CARES Act and the working group can be found at treasurer.mo.gov/COVID.
