Ace Mohr sentencing on robbery charge scheduled for Monday

Sentencing for Ace Mohr, 26, Carthage, who pleaded guilty January 24 to a reduced charge of robbery in the second degree, is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

The hearing will be conducted on Zoom, according to online court records.

Mohr was originally charged with first degree robbery and assault after beating a Carthage man with brass knuckles and stealing his wallet, phone and watch on October 27, 2018, according to the probable cause statement.

The man Mohr pleaded guilty to robbing suffered "a swollen and tender left eye, facial fractures of the orbital bones, facial fractures of the zygomatic process and facial fractures of the maxillary sinus all on the left side of his face," according to the probable cause statement.

The judge, Dean Dankelson, ordered a presentence investigation in January and is not obligated to accept the plea agreement.

Mohr still faces a felony domestic assault charge in connection with an August 18, 2018 incident. A hearing in that case is scheduled for July 28 in Jasper County Circuit Court.

At the time all of the counts were filed, Mohr was on probation following his January 16, 2018 guilty plea to two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, including heroin, and receiving stolen property. That plea was also the result of a deal which included dropping four other possession charges.

And with all of that facing Mohr, he was arrested yet again June 6 on a Carthage municipal charge of assault, according to Jasper County Circuit Court online records.

An August 27 arraignment is scheduled in that case.
