Duenweg Police Chief resigns under pressure after racist Facebook post

Duenweg Police Chief Robert Vice resigned under pressure Sunday after city officials learned of a racist comment Vice made on a Facebook post and confronted him over it.

(Note: This post has been edited since it was originally published to reflect that Vice resigned and was not fired.)

Though Vice's name was not used in the post on the city's Facebook page Sunday night, his comment had already been spread far and wide through social media.

Tonight a Facebook post was brought to the attention to City of Duenweg, Mayor Olds, and the Administrative Director to the Mayor's Office.

The City of Duenweg has taken this matter seriously, and the City of Duenweg no longer employs the Officer involved with the Facebook post.

On a Facebook post showing a traffic stop of an African American man, Vice commented, "That monkey needs to be put down like the wild animal he is."

He wasn't fired; he resigned.

Is that true? If so, it’s too bad that this blogger thinks it is more important to be first with a sensational headline than to be accurate. Noticed that a lot on this site lately.

Joplin Globe article says he resigned when initially questioned about the post.

Would have been fired if he had not resigned. Give him a break as you are not helping to educate the public like Turner is trying to do. I suppose you do believe that most of the republicans posting their prepared by minions are the facts and nothing but the facts. They snicker at you and your belief in their lies.
