Spring River Christian Village resident is Joplin's 14th COVID-19 death

(From the Joplin Health Department)

The Joplin Health Department is sad to report the death of a Joplin resident. Coronavirus was a significant condition contributing to this death.

The individual was an 85-year-old male resident at Spring River Christian Village, a long-term care facility in Joplin. This announcement brings the total count to 14 deaths in Joplin.

The management of the Spring River facility has been working closely with the Joplin Health Department, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Section for Long Term Care and recently had all their staff and residents tested for the virus. The situation continues to be monitored closely.

The reporting of COVID-19 related deaths from the City may be delayed due to the time it takes to acquire confirmation that the death meets the vital record case definition and lists Covid-19 as a contributing factor. City statistics are listed on the Joplin Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard found at www.joplinmo.org/coronavirus. It is updated by noon Monday through Friday.
