Greene County sets one-day record with 95 new COVID-19 cases

(From the Springfield-Greene County Health Department)

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department received 95 new cases of COVID-19 in Greene County residents on Tuesday, a new one-day record.

These cases are currently under investigation, so the circumstances surrounding each case are currently unknown.

As we analyze trends, we will update the community with the latest information we have in combating COVID-19.

Variability in received case numbers from day to day are not a surprise, as disease progression is not a perfectly straight line.

“We will still have days of heavy case counts,” Director of Health Clay Goddard told Springfield City Council in July.

In total, Greene County has had 1,703 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents. There are currently 739 active cases. Sixteen people have died from COVID-19.

The total confirmed case number has increased by only 90, as five previous cases were found to be residents of other jurisdictions and are therefore now counted in their totals.
