Joplin Health Department announces six COVID-19 deaths

(From the Joplin Health Department)

The Joplin Health Department is sad to report the death of six Joplin residents. Coronavirus was a significant condition contributing to these deaths.

All were female residents at Spring River Christian Village, a long-term care facility in Joplin. Ages of the individuals were 90, 71, 93, 86, 97 and 69. This announcement brings the total count to 21 deaths in Joplin.

These six death announcements are cumulative from the last few weeks; the City has been waiting for verification indicating that COVID-19 was a factor in the deaths.

The management of the Spring River facility has been working closely with the Joplin Health Department, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Section for Long Term Care and recently had all their staff and residents tested for the virus. The situation continues to be monitored closely.
