Eight Carthage High School students, one staff member test positive for COVID-19, 77 students under quarantine


Eight Carthage High School students and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19 and 77 have been placed under quarantine, according to statistics posted today on the Carthage R-9 School District's COVID-19 dashboard.

The outbreak forced the cancellation of the traditional football rivalry game between Carthage and Webb City which was scheduled for Friday.

The eight students are the only district students under isolation, but three Columbian Elementary staff members and a worker in transportation/maintenance have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Mark Twain Elementary 2

Pleasant Valley Elementary 9

Steadley Elementary 2

Carthage Intermediate Center 5

Carthage Junior High School 5

Six Columbian Elementary staff members, one at the Intermediate Center and three maintenance/transportation employees are in quarantine.
