“The families of 101 people are mourning the loss of a loved one who likely had many healthy years ahead of them. Behind each of these numbers is someone’s mother, father or grandparent,” stated Director of Health Clay Goddard. “As the number of deaths caused by this virus continues to climb, we must never lose sight of the solemn role we all play to protect each other from this deadly disease. Wear a mask, wash your hands, watch your distance and stay home if you are sick.”

Nobody is immune to COVID-19—we are all vulnerable to it, but we know some will suffer much more severe outcomes. We share a collective responsibility to fight this disease that will require patience, diligence and sacrifice.

Yesterday (Monday, October 5), we received 98 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Greene County. Our current total is 7,703 confirmed cases.

As of this morning, there were 133 COVID-19 positive individuals hospitalized at either CoxHealth or Mercy Hospital Springfield. 48 of those individuals are Greene County residents.
