Missouri confirms record number of new COVID-19 cases- 5,066, 27 deaths (updated, state provided incorrect number)

(Note: The Department of Health and Senior Services has since said that the abnormally high number was due to a "transmission error," and the number was more than twice as much as the actual number.)

The state of Missouri not only recorded a record-high number of new COVID-19 cases today, 5,066, but more than doubled the previous high of 2,084.

Missouri has had 144,230.

Twenty-seven deaths were reported bringing the total to 2,422.
