Two Joplin residents die from COVID-19, eight in the past week

The Joplin Health Department reported two deaths due to COVID-19 today.

The victims were a 69-year-old woman who was a resident of a long-term care facility and a 63-year-old man, according to a Health Department news release.

The deaths were the 32nd and 33rd for the city.






 
Eight deaths have been recorded in the past week.

Forty-nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported over the weekend, with the number of Joplin residents who are hospitalized increasing from 25 to 27.

The number of patients being treated for the coronavirus at Mercy and Freeman hospitals remained at 78.

One-hundred thirty city residents are in isolation, down from 161 on Friday, while the number under quarantine fell from 266 to 258.
