Jasper County recorded its 71st COVID-19 death today.
According to a Jasper County Health Department news release, the victim was a man in his 60s.
The latest statistics on the county's COVID-19 dashboard, posted Thursday evening, showed 83 new cases confirmed in the previous 24 hours putting the county to within striking distance of 5,000 cases at 4,941.
