Thirteen COVID-19 deaths reported in Greene County this week

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is saddened to announce that 13 COVID-19 deaths among Greene County residents were reported to us between Wednesday, December 9 and Tuesday, December 15.

Our community lost:
A man in his 60s
A woman in her 70s
A man in his 70s
Two men in their 80s
Two women in their 80s







Two men in their 90s
Three women in their 90s
One woman in her 100s

A total of 260 Greene County residents have died from COVID-19. Sixty-four deaths have been announced by the health department in December.

We extend our condolences to everyone impacted by these losses. We take each loss personally and our hearts are with each of you.

Profiles of those we’ve lost

Nine of the individuals who died were associated with long-term care. All had underlying health conditions.

Average age of reported deaths over the past two weeks (by age group):

December 9-15: 82.3 years

December 1-8: 72.9 years

Yesterday (Tuesday, December 15), we received 245 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Greene County. Our current total is 18,421 confirmed cases.

As of this morning, there were 169 COVID-19 positive individuals hospitalized at either CoxHealth or Mercy Hospital Springfield. 85 of those individuals are Greene County residents.
