(From Second District Congresswoman Ann Wagner)The House recently voted to strip committee assignment from Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene due to her past offensive statements and actions.
The statements and conspiracy theories promoted by Representative Greene, including QAnon, calling into question school shootings, anti-Semitic and other offensive slurs and threats, have no place in the Republican party.
To be clear, I find the statements and actions in question abhorrent and firmly untethered from reality. They only serve to place people in harm’s way and should be shunned by all Americans.
It is also true that these actions took place before she was a Member of Congress, and her constituents appeared to largely be aware of them when she was elected. This is the People’s House, and removing Members from committee assignments for actions and comments prior to their service would set a bad precedent in Congress.
I spoke with Representative Greene one on one and she made it clear to me she no longer believes the dangerous views espoused in her previous statements, and that she will not advance such views as a Member of Congress. She has now publicly expressed regret on the Floor of the U.S. House for her past actions and statements. For now, I will take her at her word, but I will be watching.

What about the disenfranchisement of the voters of her district. They knew all this, yet still wanted her to serve.

TODAY: Viral video shows Marjorie Taylor Greene on January 5 saying ‘get ready to fight for America tomorrow’
Less than 24 hours before thousands of Trump supporters would storm the U.S. Capitol in an armed and deadly insurrection Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) stood with that same building in the background and told MAGA adherents to "get ready to fight for America tomorrow."Greene, a racist and QAnon conspiracy theorist who has not stopped making incendiary remarks even after being stripped of her committee assignments last week, also told supporters, "Trump was re-elected for four more years," which is a lie, part of the Big Lie Trump and his cult have been spreading since the November election.
The Congresswoman, who last week told her colleagues in the House that she was "allowed to believe" the QAnon cult claims to were real, also falsely claims the Electoral College vote was "stolen."
Stressing that "tomorrow," the day of the Capitol coup, is a "very important day in America's history," Greene says, "we can't allow our integrity of our elections to be stolen."
Greene made the remarks in a video posted on January 5 to her verified Instagram account.

ReplyDeleteBoy, that just relieves me that she will behave herself because you, Graves, Long and other republicans who allows her to continue to serve will be watching. What a farce, it is like you will be watching Flynn when he betrayed his country and allow him to keep his rank and pension. He should have been ousted from any military honor, but then that would mean there are different punishments for high ranking officers who are treasonous acts and enlisted men/women. You and your group of elites in Congress have betrayed the trust given to you.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe that Greene was elected. Are there that many people who are turned on by conspiracy theories? I hope this is a lesson learned by her constituents.
