Former KODE anchor Amy Anderson leaves anchor job in Kansas City, takes radio job

Amy Anderson, who served as 6 and 10 p.m. news anchor on KODE in the late '90s, left television in December after more than two decades to become co-anchor of The Morning Show on KMBZ Radio.

In an interview with In Kansas City magazine, Anderson expressed her gratitude for the people who helped her along the way in TV news career.

I grew up in the KCTV5 newsroom and will always be so grateful, not only to all of them, but to my news director in Joplin that gave me my first job.”

Anderson left KODE at the turn of the century to work at an Orlando, Florida station where one of her assignments was covering the six-week battle after the November 2000 presidential election to determine if George W. Bush or Al Gore had won.

She returned to her hometown Kansas City (she was originally from Overland Park) to work at KCTV in 2003.
