During a hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield, a Lamar man was sentenced to seven years in prison for meth trafficking.

Marcas Aaron Elliott, 32,  will be on probation for five years after his sentence.

Elliott's crime was detailed in a detention motion:

On or about May 30, 2019, while on probation with the State of Missouri for felony stealing and felony possession of a controlled substance, the defendant accepted delivery of a package containing 429.5 grams of methamphetamine.

During a post-Miranda interview, the defendant admitted knowing the package contained methamphetamine. The defendant also possessed a backpack containing a set of digital scales, two small bags of methamphetamine, numerous clean bags, drug paraphernalia, five cell phones, and a black notebook with handwritten words and prices.
