Carthage EMT who tampered with patients' pain medication sentenced to one month in prison

A Webb City man who tampered with patients' pain medication to feed his own addiction while working on ambulances in Carthage and Mount Vernon was sentenced to one month in prison, followed by three years of supervised probation.

James Poole, 37, will be required to turn himself in to serve his sentence by April 30.

The sentence was considerably less than the three years and eight months recommended by the government in a sentencing memorandum earlier this month.

Poole was arrested after Mercy officials reported 26 fentanyl and 43 hydromorphine vials showed signs of tampering.

After initially denying any role in the tampering, Poole later acknowledged to investigators that he was the one who was responsible and that he was addicted to opioids.

    "ONE MONTH IN JAIL"

This is just "UNBELIEVABLE"!!! When Mr. Poole got caught and when asked - Point Blank if he had Tampered with the Vials and then Lied about it - and the Judge and DA - gives him a Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free-Card.

After Tampering with 26 fentanyl and 43 hydromorphine vials - He needs to be Locked Up for a while - He can Rehab in Jail - - - THIS IS NOT JUSTICE - - - DO THE CRIME - DO THE TIME - - NOT A SLAP ON THE WRIST...

I am trying to find this Case on Case Net - - WHO WAS THE JUDGE, WHO WAS THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY, WHO WAS HIS ATTORNEY - WHAT KIND OF BACKROOM DEAL DID THESE THREE MAKE???

Completely agree. He should have a longer sentence. He should at least get the 120 day shock treatment.
I would recommend 2 year minimum sentence.
