Area of 12th Street in Lamar closed as bomb squad called to Casey's

Lamar and Barton County authorities shut down a section of 12th Street from Gulf Street to Lexington Street following a bomb threat at Casey's General Store.

The following message was posted approximately four hours ago on the Lamar Police Department's Facebook page:

This morning, a male went into Casey’s in Lamar and said he had a bomb in his car. Officers responded and found multiple wires in the car.

At this time, they are waiting for the bomb squad to arrive. In the meantime, please try to avoid this area as much as possible. We will update as soon as we hear from the bomb squad.
The bomb squad from the Springfield Police Department determined that there was no bomb in the vehicle.
