Liberal man sentenced on rape, sodomy, child molestation charges

On July 15, 2021, Amos David Sumrell, 31, Liberal, pled guilty to the charges of rape in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree and child molestation in the third degree.

Judge David Munton sentenced Sumrell as follows:

For events occurring on January 6, 2020:

Rape in the first degree, 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections

 
Sodomy in the first degree, 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections

 
For events occurring on December 17, 2019:

Child molestation in the third degree, 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

All sentences to run concurrent. Sumrell is being held awaiting transportation to the Department of Corrections to serve his sentences.
