Fifty percent of eligible Greene County residents have received at least one COVID vaccine shot

(From the Springfield-Greene County Health Department)

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department reports more than half of eligible individuals have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. As of Friday, 50.28% of Greene County residents 12 and older are partially vaccinated while nearly 43% are fully vaccinated.

Individuals are considered partially vaccinated after receiving one dose of a two-dose vaccine such as Pfizer and Moderna, while someone is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-dose vaccine or two weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Individuals who’ve received one dose of a two-dose vaccine are strongly encouraged to return for their second dose three to four weeks after the first dose, depending on the type of vaccine given. Getting both doses of a two-dose vaccine is vital to maximizing the effectiveness of the vaccine to provide you with the best protection against COVID-19 and the Delta variant.

In the last three weeks, 10,213 Greene County residents received a first dose of vaccine– the highest number since April. An additional 7,079 residents became fully vaccinated.
