Floor manager at Tilt Studio charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy, furnishing pornography to a minor

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office has charged a Joplin man who has been the floor manager at Tilt Studio at Northpark Mall, with one count of statutory rape, two counts of statutory sodomy and one count of furnishing pornographic material to a minor.

Robert L. Buggey, 37, pleaded not guilty this morning during a video arraignment in Jasper County Circuit Court.

His bond is set at $100,000 cash and $100,000 surety, according to online court records.

According to the probable cause statement, the crimes allegedly took place with a girl who was under age 12, at a friend's home during June and July and involved Buggey showing the child pornography on his phone and then convincing her to do the same sexual acts that were in the video.

The child said the crimes took place when her mother went to the store and happened multiple tims.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested Buggey after he confirmed he had been at the residence with the child and her mother.

The probable cause statement indicated the Jasper County Sheriff's Office was concerned about allowing Buggey to have bail because he has lived in the county less than a year, "has no family or ties to the area and is employed by a chain business" that could easily relocate him to another store.

A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.
