Jasper R-5 in-person classes canceled due to COVID

(From the Jasper R-5 School District)

Due to the continued increase in student and staff illness across the district, Jasper R-V Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 13th and Friday, January 14th.

During this time our custodial service company (OPS) has been contacted to develop a plan for extensive deep cleaning in all of our buildings and on our school buses. By doing this, we feel like this will give our teachers an opportunity to recover both physically and mentally from the stresses of the illness that so many currently have.

Thursday and Friday will both be AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) days for students and staff members. The work for your elementary students is in their AMI packets and the work for the high school students will be retrieved from Google Classroom.

Each assignment will be posted by 9:00 am.

Athletic events will still continue as planned since they are away games and not held on our campus. We believe the students that are ill will not be participating in athletic events and we will have the opportunity to sanitize our athletic facilities.

The ACE trips scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be rescheduled.

During this time, the buildings will be closed to all staff members and students except to our custodial staff doing the sanitizing. If you are a staff member, please take everything with you that you will need to teach your lessons or grade assignments this evening when you leave the building.

We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to navigate each situation as it arises. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me at 417-394-2416 or by email at eric.findley@jasper.k12.mo.us.

Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Findley
Superintendent
