Carthage man bound over for trial on first degree murder charge

A 9 a.m. July 25 trial court arraignment is scheduled for Mason Scott Roach, 26, Carthage, who waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday on first degree murder and armed criminal action charges.

Roach is accused in the December 18, 2019 death of Jonathan E. Powell, 36, Joplin, at Westside Storage, 1717 S. Roosevelt, Joplin.

Roach was awaiting trial in Jasper County Circuit Court on a felony auto theft charge when the murder occurred.

At the time he allegedly committed that offense, he was on probation after receiving suspended sentences for stealing a gun, forgery and domestic assault.

Theresa Kenny should have been let go a long time ago. Let's all vote to get her out of office.
